Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Courses

Koha Training & Development provides a variety of courses covering all aspects of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. All courses are run by a CIPD qualified trainer. Courses can be tailored to suit the specific needs of your service & delivered at:

Introductory level
Intermediate level
Advanced level.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course participants will:

Understand exactly what DoLS are and to whom they apply.
Understand how the Safeguards relate to the rest of the MCA.
Be clear regarding the process - how and when can a deprivation of liberty be applied for and authorised.
Understand the assessment process.
Identify the role and responsibilities of a Managing Authority and Supervisory Body.
Understand the relevant case law to date.
Be familiar with the role of the relevant persons representative.
Be able to identify when an IMCA should be instructed.
Understand the role of the Court of Protection.
